Streak of Lightning Quilt Block and a New Streak of Lightning Book

Streak of Lightning Quilt Block
Clare O'Donohue's publicist sent an e-mail that she wanted me to pass on to the Quilters' Book Club members:

"Clare O’Donohue’s Someday Quilts Mysteries fans love to know whats happening in the lives of quilter turned amateur sleuth Nell Fitzgerald and other residents of the small town of Archers Rest, New York.

"Now, STREAK OF LIGHTNING ($2.99 /August 2013), is being released as A Penguin Special (e-book only) on sale July 30th.  STREAK is a great stand-alone mystery read that will also tide over series readers until the next Someday Quilts novel, THE DOUBLE WEDDING RING, this October."

STREAK OF LIGHTNING by Clare ODonohue ($2.99 /August 2013)
“Back in Archers Rest, Nell Fitzgerald and boyfriend police chief Jesse DeWalt are heading out of town for a romantic New Year’s Eve weekend in New York City.  Hoping for a clean break from work, Jesse leaves his police partner Greg in charge of the precinct.  The first order of business is dealing with Joe Proctor, an abrasive bully who everyone in town seems to hate.  Joes latest altercation—this time with local florist Violet—ends with a chair flying through her flower shop window and him in handcuffs.
“As Nell and Jesse arrive in Grand Central station, their getaway is suddenly curtailed by a call with disturbing news. Joe was found dead in his cell at the police station, leaving Greg as the only viable suspect.  As the state police step in to investigate this possible homicide, Nell and Jesse work below the radar to learn more about Joe and find the killer.  Did a long standing grudge between Gregs father and Joe make this the perfect opportunity for payback?   Why did Violet and Joe argue, and did she secretly get even for damage to her shop?   Or, did someone else want to settle their own score with the unpopular Joe?”

  1. I like to read in the bathtub (it's quiet there) or on the living room couch. Those are my favorite places, but, bed is a close 3rd.

  2. My favorite reading spot is my lounge chair in the den. But I'll pretty much read anywhere I can. Thanks.

  3. I am now reading the August book Between Heaven and Texas. I had read The Soloist by Steve Lopez about mental illness before this and it was informative and helpful in understanding this disease, But I very much needed a fun and entertaining and uplifting book. This book is definitely cheering me up!

  4. It all depends on the mood I am in or what. Sometimes it's in the hammock in my backyard where I lay a quilt down first and climb aboard with my little dog and a book and read for hours. Sometimes it's in bed which is most nights I read myself to sleep. And when I am working and waiting and waiting, I must have a book to read. So, I think maybe to sum it up, reading anywhere is just great to me. LOL!

  5. I will read anywhere, anytime! I do read in bed every night, often falling asleep with the light on. I've never heard of this author, so I'll be checking her out!

  6. I usually read on the train or bus or while waiting for people and events to happen. (I am usually early and get frustrated when everyone else is late, so the reading becomes therapy) On the train, I sometimes get so involved in the story, I miss my stop. When I am at home, there is always work to do and many interruptions. I have been known though, to take the book I am reading up to my bed.

  7. Most of my 'reading' is listening to audio books while I sew or drive. Although I thought I had read this book, so far nothing seems familiar. I most read on treadmill or sitting on couch.

  8. Currently I am reading Debbie Macomber's The Inn at Rose Harbor. I usually read in my chocolate brown wing chair in the family room. I place a throw pillow on my lap and prop the book on top of that so there is less strain on my neck while reading.

  9. The only time during the day I have a chance to read is at the end of the day in bed. Great way to wind down after a busy day & escape!

  10. I usually read in bed at night before sleep. I also walk my dog everyday for an hour or so & on our walks I listen to an audio book.

  11. Dee in NE writes: "My favorite place to read is in my recliner with the foot end up where my dog Sherlock (he's a mystery) relaxes while I read. I can't even tell you the last TV show I watched, but I've read 3 books in the last 10 days."

  12. I love reading in the bath as I know I will have title peace. I just have to be careful that I don't read when I'm tired and drop the book or my kindle in the water.

  14. I like to read in bed best. Sometimes I will read on the couch or sitting in a chair but mostly lying down in bed. I have ordered Between Heaven and Texas from the library but it will have to be purchased or else come from outside, so I'm not holding my breath that I will get it in time.

  15. My favorite place to read is in a beach chair, under a beach umbrella, with the ocean waves lapping at the shore. However, tucked in during a summer rain or a winter storm, or on a quiet evening, the living room recliner is a close second.
