Celtic Twist Quilt Block and a March Snow

Celtic Twist Quilt Block Pattern Information

March brings St. Patrick's Day as well as a wonderful snow!
My husband took these photos while he was shoveling.

We are so thankful for the moisture!

  1. Yes, we celebrate, but in a different way - it is my daughter's birthday!. She will be 27 this year and the mother of two precious kids. I read lots of Amish, so I need to start this series of book and would love to win it!

  2. That is one way of thinking about all this snow this year as moisture :) All of God's gardens should be amazing this spring and summer. Love the Celtic Twist block and have thought about doing it, but so far have not. I just might have to now that I have seen it again.

  3. We don't celebrate St. Patrick's day. I love the block design, though. We're waiting for our mountains of snow to finally melt. Your snow pictures are beautiful!

  4. The quilt block is wonderful. They are always wonderful. I enjoy coming to your site and seeing them all the time.

The snow is pretty mainly because it is not in my yard and does not have to be shoveled off my walk. I do need to do some snow dyeing before it all melts.

  5. Love the block. I make post cards to send to grands and made place mats for the younger two grands. I am Irish--Gregory

  7. YES I celebrate St. Pat's Day. Always make corn beef and cabbage with carrots and potatoes, and Irish soda bread. My name being Pat I always wanted it to be my birthday. After I was grown my mom would send me a gift on St. Pats day. We were 100% Irish. We have passed on our love for the day and we have many grand children and great grands with very Irish names.
    Happy sewing

  9. Your quilt block is beautiful - in Finland we naturally don't celebrate St. Patrick's day, but green is one of my favorite colours :)

  10. I do celebrate St. Patrick's Day as I am a little Irish and we do have corn beef and cabbage. Will probably do it a day early this year as DS#2 will have to work on the 17th. All your blocks are very nice---I don't know how you read and quilt so much, as I try to read a little each day and sew if possible each day also.

  11. We have Corned Beef and cabbage sandwiches. But our son won't be here to have them with us for 2 years. But we will have to have it just for him. That about all we do.

  12. When I was a kid, green popsicles at school were a big part of St. Patrick's day. Now, I'm more likely to make green-sprinkled sugar cookies. pbstrand@msn.com

  13. The Irish flags are already flying from every flagpole along Omotesando and there will be a big fun parade along that avenue that passes by our church on Sunday. Long ago in Cleveland, they painted the center line of the street green and our pipe band played our whole repertoire of Irish tunes in the parade. Now, I just watch .

  14. We celebrate St. Patrick's Day here with a dinner....corned beef, cabbage, potatoes or a corned beef strudel. Last year we had Irish Bangers instead of corned beef - just for a change up!!!! When the kids were little, I made everything green for them, including their water. Oh, and of course I put our Irish Tenors CD on to play.

  15. We don't celebrate St Patrick's Day but it is a nice change to see all the green around the place as you wander around. I do love Celtic blocks though and have made a few using ribbon and other trimming's to form the shapes. Love your snow pictures, living in Australia we don't get snow much and none where I live. Looks beautiful but a little too cold for me :)
