Rolling Stone Quilt Block

Walking Wednesdays is a new weekly feature of my blog, focusing on my walks and the sites that I see along the way throughout the week.  Of course, I will tie each walking adventure into a quilt block! 

This week I walked around my neighborhood. 

Up high, I see large, sandstone rock formations in some of my neighbor's yards.

 

 Down by my feet, I see Wild Geraniums 

 

 

Common Daisy or Oxeye Daisy

 

 

Trailing Daisy or Whiplash Daisy

(the flowers are only 1/2 - 3/4" wide)

 Red Clover

 

 

Field Bindweed up close

 

and growing all alongside the road

Yellow Stonecrop with flowers only 1/4" wide

Creamy Thistle or Prairie Thistle

 Elkweed, also known as Green Gentian, Monument Plant, or Deer's Ears

And at eye level, I see Mountainspray
The wood would supposedly not burn so was used by Native Americans
to make roasting tongs and by pioneers to make wooden nails.
