Christmas Disappearing Nine-Patch Tablecloth

A few years ago, a friend and I each made
a Christmas Disappearing Nine-Patch tablecloth.

I love the old-fashioned look of the fabric line that we chose.

See the wonderful stockings hanging over the fireplace?

My Christmas teapot

Our Advent wreath, made from greens gathered from trees in our yard

Every Christmas, each guest signs their name on the back of the tablecloth.
I used muslin for the backing.

The label my friend made for the back of my tablecloth.
Didn't she do a wonderful job?

  1. Lovely and those toiles in reds and greens are beautiful. Both my daughter in law and my daughter would love this one! Me too!

  2. I love the vintage/toile style fabrics in your tablecover! The signatures are a nice way to save memories. I enjoy using quilts on my tables all the time.

  3. I was reading thru your blog, looking for ideas for homemade gifts and I noticed that there is no June Redwork Birdie BOM. Is there anyway you could post it or message me back with it. I love them and was disappointed there was no June. Thanks.

    1. Marie, the June block was a bit different than all of the others, and I wasn't sure whether I wanted to do it or to choose something else. I haven't made a decision yet. If you'd like to see the June pattern, you can see it at http://www.littlemissshabby.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/img083.pdf

  4. Glad to see I'm not the only one who gathers signatures but I have yet to try a tablecloth.

  5. I love the idea of a patchwork Christmas tablecloth. What kind of batting did you use?

    1. I don't exactly remember, but I know it was thinner than a usual batting.

  6. What is the size of the original block? I love the idea of guests signing the back.

  7. What a great idea and a marvelous, easy pattern for that quilt. I'll have to consider it for next year's Three Kings Day.

  8. That is such a lovely idea.
I have a memory quilt I made to honour my husbands grandma. Everyone at the reunion wrote a message on it. Now it is fun to look back to it and read them. It was made 14 years ago.
