My House Block Bee Quilt, a March Wind, and Sleepless in Colorado

The Wind

I saw you toss the kites on high
And blow the birds about the sky;
And all around I heard you pass,
Like ladies' skirts across the grass -
O wind, a-blowing all day long,
O wind, that sings so loud a song!

I saw the different things you did,
But always you yourself you hid.
I felt you push, I heard your call,
I could not see yourself at all -
O wind, a-blowing all day long,
O wind, that sings so loud a song!

O you that are so strong and cold,
O blower, are you young or old?
Are you a beast of field and tree,
Or just a stronger child than me?
O wind, a-blowing all day long,
O wind, that sings so loud a song!

Robert Louis Stevenson from A Child's Garden of Verses

  1. I love your quilt! So creative. The wind hasn't kept me up at night, but it has whistled through the windows several days this winter.

  2. Where we live we get a lot of wind. I have many sleepless nights. So I spend a lot of time coming up with new ideas for quilts.

  3. This has been a week of rattling windows. I really love poems by Robert Lewis Stevenson.

  4. Weather noises aren't what keep me awake at night (except thunder). I have other reason that I can't sleep.
