Cross and Crown Quilt Block and a Song for Sunday

Cross and Crown Quilt Block Pattern Information

Christ the Lord Is Risen Today

Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!
Sing, ye heavens, and earth, reply, Alleluia!

Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!
Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once He died our souls to save, Alleluia!
Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!
Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia!
Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!
Death in vain forbids His rise, Alleluia!
    Christ hath opened paradise, Alleluia!
Soar we now where Christ hath led, Alleluia!
    Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!
Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia!
Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!
by Charles Wesley (1707-1788), 1739
This is one of over 6,000 hymns Charles wrote during his lifetime.

  3. The choir sang in three services. people wonder why I am not holding a hymnal but how many times does one have to sing something to know it by heart?

  4. I would have been disappointed if you had chosen another song for the hymn. :) It's a great block and I hope you had a great Easter.,
