April Redwork Snowman and A Splash of April

A Splash of April

When you chance upon a
water puddle,
left behind after an
April rain,
do you carefully detour
around the obstruction
and go hurriedly
along your way?
Or do you smile with
not-so-secret glee,
loosen your tie,
kick up your heels,
and let loose
your inner child!

  1. I love Emily Dickinson. I have never done redwork. This looks like a fun quilt.

  2. When I was a child learning to read, I could not see the print and memorized the words that went with the pictures. I grew up LOVING poetry ... maybe because it was so easy to memorize.
Right now, the words of John Greenleaf Whittier, "I know nor where His islands lift their fronded palms in air; I only know I cannot drift beyond His love and care." give me comfort for the days ahead.

  3. James Whitcomb Riley was/is a favorite. He's an Indiana poet. My dad used to read to us; we had a thick book of his poems which I left at one of the school where I taught. I never got it back but I'm sure someone enjoyed.

    1. I lived in Indiana for 10 years as a child, so I also love James Whitcomb Riley. :-)

  4. Thank you for sharing my poem, Susan, I am very honored. My favorite poet would have to be my infamous brother, George Pasley.
