Weathervane Quilt Block and Missing the Smells of Spring

Weathervane Quilt Block Pattern Information

Smells
Through all the frozen winter
My nose has grown most lonely
For lovely, lovely, colored smells
That come in springtime only.

The purple smell of lilacs,
The yellow smell that blows
Across the air of meadows
Where bright forsythia grows.

The fall pink smell of peach trees,
The low white smell of clover,
And everywhere the great green smell
Of grass the whole world over.

  5. We are a bit ahead of the rest of the country here in Oregon. Just this week, my Daphne bloomed and it is my favorite spring smell! The hyacinths will come next followed by the lilacs....all a treasure! I hope spring finds a way into the other bits of the country soon! Beth @ Words & Stitches, pbstrand@msn.com

  6. Love the smell of a spring rain as I watch it wash away all the salt and sand left from winter and the fragrance of the peonies.

  7. Waiting anxiously for my hyacinths to bloom, they are just now peeking through the soil. But today we have another winter storm warning, with possible snow, sleet and ice. Will winter ever end?

  14. I miss the smell of old fashion Iris, grape Hyacinthia, Day Lillies so tall and orange. Fresh mowed hay in the fields and summer air after a cleansing rain. Oh and the Blue of Cow Slips growing in the ditches and wild primrose. Yes my nose needs a break from the winters cold. Love you blog! Posting a link if you don't mind from mine to yours!
