March Irish Tablecloth Quilt

It's spring inside my home with this Irish Great-Grandpa Sampler Quilt that I use as a tablecloth in March.

even though it's still winter outside!

The March wind roars
Like a lion in the sky,
And makes us shiver
As he passes by.
When winds are soft,
And the days are warm and clear,
Just like a gentle lamb,
Then spring is here.

  1. Hot and humid here. This weather is January weather - by now it should be far less humid and comfortable mid-20s. Its nice downstairs in my work room though, so I made youngest grand daughter a bag for her birthday on Sunday. It is designed to carry the new "grown up" bible we bought her. Just have to top stitch the top of it tomorrow.

  2. Just discovered your blog.....I plan to be a 'regular'!!!! There is still snow on the ground here in Northern Virginia but the temps are above freezing so it is melting. I think the kids have a regular school day today - no closings or delayed openings. My favorite sewing machine is at the dealers for a routine cleaning and check-up so my quilting has been put on hold. Can't wait to get it back.

  3. March came in as a lion and now it is a lamb but the lion is due back earlier next week.

  4. LION! We've had snow twice, more in the forecast, and, more below normal temps. I'm ready for that 'Lamb' to arrive.

  5. Spring-like here in SE AZ. Blossoms on the trees and lots of song birds this week.
I sure would like a better look at your table quilt, it's wonderful.

  7. It was 10 degrees this morning here in NY. The ground is still covered in snow and they are predicting snow for next Wednesday. Ugh!

  12. Between the rain and the wind, I would say the "Lion" image fits.
The quilt is so pretty. Good thing my spill champion is not sitting there!

  15. Roasted lamb! This winter we've been 10-15 degrees warmer than we should be. Also we haven't had any rain to speak of here in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Which means that we'll have a really bad summer and wildfires. :-(
I really like your tablecloth. Tiny (DBF) wants me to make pillows for the house. I also need to make some tablecloths. :-)

  16. I don't think March came in like a lion. I think it's just January and February changing their outfits to make us think it is March! LOL. Actually today it should get close to 40!!! Of course I won't get to see much of it since I have to work but at least I won't be afraid to look at the temps.
