I had a Snow Day from school for the second day in a row. The issue today was not snow but rather bus malfunctions. It was so cold that many of the buses refused to start. It was -22 degree F. early this morning with a wind chill factor of -38. Very unusual for us!
It was a wonderful day indoors with -
Delicious smells coming from the kitchen:
Barbecued Pork Chops
1. Combine sauce ingredients:6 tablespoons brown sugar
½ cup ketchup
2 teaspoons dry mustard
¼ cup water
2.In frying pan, brown pork chops on both sides. Drain off excess fat if necessary.
3. Place browned pork chops in Crock Pot. Pour sauce over and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours until chops are very tender.
4. Serve with additional sauce.

I'd probably spend the day catching up on blog reading, then stitching while listening to a movie on DVD (hard to see with my glasses off). Lots of snow days here, lately. At least we were warmer than you today. We finally got up to 7 degrees this afternoon.

DeleteWe're having snow here in Oregon, so I have a snow day today and probably tomorrow. I'm going to quilt and watch Olympics. I set a goal of making 6 queen or king sized quilts this year. I have one top already done and am working on a king sized one. So I have a lot of sewing to do.=)

DeleteMy favorite snow days are also to sew something and bake-used to do cinnamon rolls when the kids were home-now that's too many for us. I'm working on finishing UFO this year - finished up 8 baby quilts from scraps brought at a great price. Lots of tops to quilt left to do- Thank you for a chance to win

DeleteBrrrr, that's cold! And I thought it was cold this morning at -6°, with a wind chill of -25°. It made it all the way up to 5° today.
ReplyDeleteI like to spend snow days quilting away, with a fire cracking away in the wood-burning stove nearby, watching the birds flocking around the feeders just outside the window on the back deck.
What a wonderful day! On my snow days, it was so cold that the birds didn't even show up at the feeder!

DeleteWe've had a few snow days here, too! I like to bake cookies or put something yummy in the crockpot and then sew. Let the snow pile up outside as long as I have no where to go and have plenty of fabric to work with!

DeleteI would spend the day quilting, baking cookies, and sipping hot tea! Oh, and throw in a nap or two just for good measure...

DeleteI'm in the midst of a snow day so it's an easy answer! I'm catching up on some UFO's in my pile of "nearly done's", making a few quilted Valentine's cards and drinking Twinnings decaff English breakfast tea. Right now, I'm stopping for a quick lunch of reheated chili while the pot roast in the crock pot is filling the house with savory smells! Beth @ Words & Stitches, pbstrand@msn.com

DeleteThe snow is falling and piling up now. I have been watching it from my greenhouse/bedroom window while working on the Gala quilt. It is cold up there but less dog hair. I just came downstairs to re-fill my coffee cup and warm my hands and answer a few e-mails. Alas, the deadline is calling me back up.

DeleteWould probably spend part of it grading papers. Then snuggle with my furbabies some. And then try. To finish a doll quilt for a very precious 3 year old.

DeleteI am waiting for snow to arrive later today and through tomorrow - the weather forecasters are already calling this the 'storm of a life time' - ugh! Years ago, we went through the 'storm of the century'.
ReplyDeleteI love to read and write and bake and create anytime, but especially during a snowstorm when I can stay inside (my wonderful husband graciously takes over my farm chores). Getting comfy in my lounge chair, under a warm quilt, and looking out at the amazing views of Mother Nature is a bonus...snow or not!
