Ice Cream Shop House Block and Linda's Ice Cream in a Bag


During the month of September, the online Quilters' Book Club is reading and discussing The Goodbye Quilt by Susan Wiggs.  In the book, mother Linda and daughter Molly are on a road trip to take Molly to college back East.  One night they stay in a cabin and enjoy a campfire with other travelers.  Linda teaches everyone how to make Ice Cream in a Bag.  If you'd like to make this fun recipe, too, I found a YouTube video that shows clear directions on how to do just that.  Enjoy!

  1. Cub Scouts love to make ice cream on a camp out. With many hands, the work is shared and so is the eating. Favorite? Well, vanilla with toppings leaves lots of variety and possibilities like butterscotch or chocolate or maybe crushed strawberries...

  3. Love this block! I forgot about the ice cream in a bag so I was delighted to see your You Tube link. When I buy ice cream in a cone I look for pralines and cream but for home I get vanilla and then I put maple syrup on it! I just might get some now.

  6. Oh my! Don't make me pick one. ROFL! Sometimes it's mint chocolate chip, sometimes, butter pecan, sometimes moose tracks, sometimes something with peanut butter from the local ice cream shop, sometimes it's plain vanilla. I guess it depends on the mood. I like to venture out. LOL!

  7. I have always loved Chocolate Mousse Royale at B & R! The chocolate is sooo smooth with bits of thin, crunchy chocolate throughout.

  8. Butter pecan gets my vote! Pierre's is quite good; buttery taste and lots of pecans.
    A group of us did the Komen Walk for Breast Cancer today. At the end Mitchell's was handing out samples of pumpkin ice cream. Very good! Could possibly become a seasonal favorite of mine.

  9. Chocolate Moose Tracks :) YUM!!! I used to have my class make ice cream during our study of the oceans to understand why the oceans aren't totally frozen under the poles and a lesson on measuring using Celsius thermometers. Made some mighty fine ice cream too!!

  11. Jamoca Almond Fudge - a coffee ice cream with a fudge ribbon and toasted almonds throughout. Loving ice cream this summer and with temperatures turning it's time for some hot chocolate soon.
