April Redwork Snowman

The month of April is derived from the Greek word for "opening."  It's the season when trees and flowers begin to open.  April starts on the same day as July in all years and January in leap years.  April ends on the same day of the week as December in all years.  It is one of four months that has thirty days.  According to the Farmer's Almanac, "the full moon of April is known as the Full Pink Moon.  This name came from the herb moss pink, or wild ground phlox, which is one of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring. Other names include the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and among coastal tribes the Full Fish Moon, because this was the time that the shad swam upstream to spawn."

April Rain Song
Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.

The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk.
The rain makes running pools in the gutter.
The rain plays a little sleep-song on our roof at night -

And I love the rain.
                               Langston Hughes

Rain
The rain is raining all around,
It falls on field and tree,

It rains on the umbrellas here,

And on the ships at sea.
                               Robert Louis Stevenson

Sidewalk Measles
I saw the sidewalk catch the measles
When the rain came down today.
It started with a little blotching –
Quickly spread to heavy splotching,
Then as I continued watching
The rain-rash slowly dried away.

  3. We have started our April with showers this year,...well, sometimes a bit heavier than "showers". I feel sorry for those who planned their folwer-viewing for this week.
