April Egg Basket Block

 

This April Basket block is part of my Wooly Basket Calendar Quilt.  The pattern is from the Starry Pines Pattern Company: http://starrypinespatterncompany.com/spindex2.html

I used wool for the hand-appliqued basket, cotton flannel for the background fabric, and black perle cotton for the embroidery.

Egg Puff Brunch Dish

10 eggs
½ cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
2 cups cottage cheese
1 pound Monterey Jack cheese, grated
1 can (4 ounces) diced green chilies, drained

Salsa

1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.

2.  In a large bowl, beat eggs until light.
3.  Add flour, baking powder, salt, cottage cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, and green chilies until blended.
4.  Pour into prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes.
5.  Cut into squares and serve with salsa.

Shell Game

everything

about an egg is

smooth or round or cool

the shell    pin-thin and brittle

the yolk    a little mound of sun

the white  sticky-thick and spreading

resting still as a stone in your palm

everything about an egg

is nothing like

a chick
